Gallery Mint Museum & Ron Landis beginnings of the Golden Dollar

描述: Gallery Mint Museum & Ron Landis beginnings of the Golden Dollar

Letter given to me by Ron Landis
This group of pattern dollars transferred to Stefanie XXXX
includes what I consider to be some of the most notable pieces
that went into the actual development of what became known as
the "Sacagawea Dollar"
The first series, dated 1998 were struck as a very limited edition
of 100 and were distributed to International Mint Directors and
Dignitaries at the New York ANA convention in 1998. The official
strikes came in a blue velvet box and distributed by Ken Bressett,
then president of the ANA as a way to promote his Peace 2000
initiative that would have each participating nation include the
word "PEACE" on at least one circulating coin for the year 2000.
These two 1998 artist proofs which were number 1 and 2 were
struck prior to the official edition of 100 and was in the personal
collection of myself, Ron Lands, Designer and Engraver.
