The Eliasberg 1883 No Cent Liberty Nickel Set.

描述: The Eliasberg Collection was the only complete collection of U.S. coins ever formed, and it will likely always hold that distinction. The collection was sold in three different auction events. First were the gold coins that Bowers and Ruddy sold in October 1982. They were followed by Colonials through dimes in May 1996, and twenty cent pieces through silver dollars in April 1997. Collectors seem to be drawn to coins which were once part of a well known collection. This "provenance" can add a premium to the value of the coin, sometimes a substantial premium. While in many cases, the coins with a provenance are a distinct type, there is one case where numerous examples exist. That is the Eliasberg 1883 No Cent Liberty Nickel.

In the 1996 sale of the Louis Eliasberg Sr. collection, the following three lots were included in the Nickel section.

772 1883 Without CENTS Liberty nickel roll, average MS-63. Brilliant and lustrous. Excellent quality. These and the following 1883 Liberty Head nickels were put away decades ago - possibly even in the 19th century. Now they will certainly please the buyer and, eventually, many owners as they are dispersed. (Total: 40 pieces)
